Luzerne County Real Estate Re-Assessments
Luzerne County has recently undertaken a Re-assessment of all real estate parcels. The Re-assessment process has created an environment in which consumers need to know the market value of their real estate to ensure the fairness of their real estate taxes.
United One Resources, Inc. offers Real Estate Appraisal Services to consumers and financial institutions throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Important Dates In The Assessment Process
July 1, 2008 All reassessment notices must by mailed by the county. All Property Owners have 40 days from the date the reassessment notice was mailed to seek an informal review or file an appeal.
October 15, 2008 The last date property owners can file for a Homestead Exemption or Clean and Green assessment to lower their 2009 taxes. All applications filed after this date will be valid for 2010.
October 31, 2008 The Luzerne County Board of Assessment Appeals must complete all appeal hearing requested by property owners.
November 15, 2008 All new assessments will be certified to determine 2009 taxes.
January 1, 2009 The new assessments will take effect. All county, municipal and school taxes will be based upon new values.
